My father just turned in his Ford Explorer and is on the lookout to lease a new one. He already made clear that the previous SUV was not very kind on his posterior and also that the engine capacity was more than he wanted… So he's on the lookout for a 4 cylinder or a small 6, and it must be Offroader since he does surfing, etc… and this is the only spacious vehicle in the house, I used his car some times to move possessions all over the place because I drive a Honda Accord and my wife a Beetle.
Nonetheless, the budget; it's positively under US $28k including taxes & fees.
He liked the Mazda CX7, but it's way too underpowered, the Turbo version has admirable engine capacity and drives great, but for that much he thinks he can do better.
He chanced upon a great bargain at Volkswagen for a Jetta SportWagen 2.5L 5 cylinders… but he is concerned with dependability given that our Audi A6 and VW Cabrio were constantly facing problems. I told him that with a 48-month lease he shouldn't have any difficulties (as opposed to driving the Jeep Wrangler like he had for around 5 years).
Next there is the contemporary Subaru Outback, a very enjoyable car, you can smell superiority all over if you are to explore this car… He even said that he would have purchased the car by now if it wasn't for the salesperson was such a douchebag… I feel inculing taxes it reaches $32k or so, although he seems to like the vehicle a lot.
I don't think he prefers the Honda CR-V, I'll ask him if he wants to try it out, its cost seems about right.
If you are aware of any nice drives which he can look into while not having to spend an excessive sum of money, your ideas are very welcome.
